Drum Kit Builder · version 0.10.0
Draw your drum kit from above at real sizes, see it from the audience and the throne, set every height and angle, hear it, and share it as a file or a picture. Here's every feature, in the order you'll use them.
Chapter 1
Three ways to run it, all the same app. Nothing to sign up for, and it never needs the internet once it's open.
Everything is on the app's page. Your kits stay on your device in every version.
drum-kit-builder-0.10.0-android.apk and open it. The
first time, Android asks you to allow installs from your browser: allow it, then
tap Install. Kits and pictures you save go to
Documents › Drum Kit Builder.
drum-kit-builder-0.10.0-windows.zip, unzip it and
double-click Install.cmd. No admin rights needed. Open it from the
Start menu or the desktop; remove it from Settings → Apps.
Chapter 2
A short tour, then a kit to work on.
The first time you open a new version, a tour offers two ways through:
A new kit is blank graph paper with a throne; the pink crosshair marks the drummer's seat and follows the throne.
Chapter 3
Everything is drawn to real sizes on a 2-inch grid, so what fits on screen fits on the riser.
Drag a drum, cymbal or piece of hardware from the palette onto the paper, or click it to drop it in the middle.
Click a piece to select it and drag it into place. It snaps to the 2-inch grid.
With a piece selected, the panel on the right edits just that piece:
Click empty paper so nothing is selected, and the panel shows the whole kit's settings:
Chapter 4
Keep busy kits workable, and mark them up for the band or the stage crew.
The stack button in the toolbar opens the layers: annotations, cymbals, drums, and hardware and racks.
The palette's Annotate tiles add text notes, arrows and dimension lines.
Chapter 5
From a quick pencil sketch to something that looks like your actual kit.
The half-filled circle in the toolbar switches from line art to the Shaded style, with bronze cymbals, coated heads and chrome hardware.
The app follows your device's theme until you pick one with the sun and moon button (or File → Dark mode on phones).
Chapter 6
You arrange from above; the other two views are built from the same layout, so they always agree.
The view switch (or V) shows Front: the kit as the audience sees it, each piece at its height and angle, with a height ruler and the floor.
Click a piece in the Front or Drummer view and set it in the panel:
Drummer shows the kit from the throne, looking out: the drummer's left on the left, the nearest pieces in front, tilted drums showing their top heads.
Chapter 7
Press Play in the toolbar (or P): it turns pink, the paper gets a pink frame, and the play panel takes the palette's place. Click or tap any piece to hear it, in any view.
Chapter 9
The same app, laid out for one hand: the palette along the bottom, settings in a sheet above it.
Chapter 10
