Music Helper
Your music page, from MP3 to live.
Every song in this site's Music Portfolio arrives through the Music Helper, a small studio that runs on my own computer. Drop in MP3s and it reads their details from the tags, sorts them into collections and times the lyrics so they light up line by line, then publishes the lot with one button. Paired with the Lyric Timer, the two make an even fuller music page.
Windows. Unzip it and double-click Music Helper.cmd; it opens in your browser. README.txt explains the rest.
The same demo with the Lyric Timer inside: open a song in it from the helper and send the timing straight back.
The downloads are working demos: they come with an empty example site to try with your own MP3s, and publishing is switched off. Needs Node.js 20 or newer.
What It Does
Reads the Tags
Each MP3's title, lyrics, cover art and song link come straight from its tags, and songs already in the library are skipped.
Collections
Albums, genres or themes, in the order you choose, with one song starred as the site's Featured Song.
Lyrics That Follow Along
Tap Space as each line begins and the page lights the lyrics up as the song plays. Check it in a preview before saving.
Works With the Lyric Timer
Open a song in the Lyric Timer for finer timing and send it straight back, or load an .lrc file from it or any lyrics tool.
One-Click Publishing
Preview the real music page on your computer, then publish: it uploads only the music and waits until it's live.
Small and Local
The download is about 70 KB and runs on your own computer, with no account or subscription. Your songs stay with you until you publish.
How It Works
- Drop in one MP3 or a whole album.
- Sort the songs into collections and star a Featured Song.
- Time the lyrics by tapping along, from an .lrc file or in the Lyric Timer.
- Preview the music page, then publish it live.
Made For
Anyone with a music page to keep up to date who'd rather not hand-edit it. The download is a working demo with an empty example site, on its own or with the Lyric Timer.
